Former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been targeted by suspected explosive devices sent in the mail, while a similar "live" package was received at the CNN offices at the Time Warner Center in New York.

In a briefing outside the building, Bill de Blasio, New York mayor, described the incident as an "act of terror".
