假如爱的迹象是深情的信念, 纯真的心灵,
If amorous faith, a heart of guileless ways,
柔和而又恬静, 礼貌地控制着的欲念,
Soft languors, courteously controlled desire,
在高贵的火焰里燃烧的美好的意愿,
And virtuous will, kindled with noble fire,

And lengthened wanderings in a lightless maze;
假如爱的迹象是眉头上显露的思绪,
If thoughts, which evermore the brow displays,

Still checked with fear and shame; if hues no higher

Than the pale violet hath, or love displays;
